What If Joseph Had Yielded To Her?

I’m thinking of Potiphar’s wife right now. I’m thinking of that baaad body. That long silky hair. I’m thinking of her sweet scent and delicate make up. No, think about it, the Egyptians figured out eyeliners waaay before L’Oreal came around.

Also recognize that the average Egyptian wife of a commoner was hot…how much more the wife of a high-ranking government official?! Let’s not fool ourselves, Potiphar’s wife would have made a kid-arshian out of Kim.

I think of all the effort she must have put into looking good when she decided to seduce Joseph. I think of her getting close and whispering sweet nothings into his ears, giving him assurances that no one would find out, asking him for orgasmic bliss…and I wonder…what if Joseph had stayed?

First The Enjoyment…

What if he’d allowed his erection to prevail over his commitment to God? What aaaaah would have happened? For sure it would have been faayaaaa! She would have made him palpitate like he’d been glued to a defibrillator.  But he was a virgin, so it won’t have ky33 biaa, he’d have cum. She’d giggle and be amused by his short-lived ‘youthful exuberance’. She’d have wanted to lay beside him for a while, but guilt would have started peppering him.

He’d have made an excuse to leave and she’d have reluctantly let him go, biting her lower lip already counting down to their next encounter. He’d have been miserable the rest of the day, filling like the chicken poop stain on a filthy rag. It would have ripped him sorely. And later that evening when Potiphar praised him for something, it would hurt even more.

The Relapse…

She would have tried again. He’d hate her, hate himself. She’d keep trying and a month later, she’d have gotten him again. He wouldn’t know what to say to God this time. The voices in his head would have teased him miserably. Guilt would return, but in time, he’d feel the strong hold of lust rearing its head, tightening its grip. Over time, it’d become harder and harder to say no to madam. People in the household would start noticing things and in time an undercover journalist would come and uncover it all.

Would he have met the king’s baker and the wine bearer? Would he have had the opportunity to show his dream-reading gift?  Would he have had an opportunity with the king? Would Israel have had a place in Egypt? Would there have been the opportunity many years later for God to part the red sea?

I dunno.

What I do know is that our decisions have ripple consequences; even when we can’t see past its potential impact beyond the next 10 minutes. I know that cravings that ask for a minute of your time in the beginning could be taking a whole hour soon. A minor thing you seem to have under control could easily become a raging insatiable weakness. Slowly, a one-off becomes an addiction. My broda, don’t kid yourself o, the thing that could ultimately bring you down will always look innocuous at hello. Don’t think you dierr, you can keep it under control o. Even your tongue that’s one and half inches at full stretch has life and death in it and can get you into massive trouble, how much more an untamed stiff ‘tail’?

The Best Plan!

The chains that bind us tightest are the ones we cant see with our naked eyes. At the end of the day, it doesn’t satisfy for long, and you come to the sad realization that it really wasn’t worth it.

If your weakness hasn’t brought you shame yet, don’t take chances. You may not know what that ‘distraction’ has actually cost you, but don’t find out how much more it could cost.

Retire. Throw in the towel. Hang the boots. It’s not easy, but let Him help you. Ask the Holy Spirit to numb the urges that used to control you and utilize His grace to walk away like Joseph did. Good idea?
