Mary Did You Know? – The Greatness Hiding In You

Jeff Bezos is worth circa $240Bn. His mum had him at 17. His biological dad did setewaa so the Bezos is actually his step dad’s (he calls him his real dad) name. I wonder how biological dad feels about forfeiting the right to be dad.

‘Mary Did You Know’ is one of my favorite Christmas songs. It’s full of questions to Mary and if she knew that her little boy will one day become savior of the world. Yes an angel did appear to announce the pregnancy. Yes the three wise men followed a star to his manger and there was that old man who said he could finally die in peace because he had beheld the Messiah. But with all of that, there were times when she forgot the magnitude of the destiny of the boy whose poop she’d wiped so often.

OTHERS MAY FORGET, BUT NOT YOU.

Mary may have forgotten or underestimated how great her son would become. This is okay because her faith in him was never a precondition for his actualization. It was Jesus who never lost sight of who he was and who he’d become. He was sure of himself and his destiny. Imagine a carpenter’s son saying “I came to redeem the lost, so that the blind may see, etc.” The nerve!

He did/has become everything he was destined to be. All the times Jesus kept going on about being one with God, like ‘I am the way the truth and the life…’, Etc. Everything he said about himself and said he will do are passco now. So now I’m thinking of the things he said about me…like ‘greater than these you shall do’, ‘In my name you will cast out demons and heal the sick’, ‘I will be one with you just as I am one with the father, ‘I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly’ etc. Looking at his accuracy track record, I feel I better start taking myself more seriously.

IF HE WAS RIGHT ABOUT HIMSELF…HE’S RIGHT ABOUT YOU!

If there’s a chance that He is right and by His grace I will rule in this life, I have the full content of divinity in my humanity, etc. then someone should start asking my mum “Annie did you know?”. Having his identity top of mind was crucial to achieving what he did. It’s hard, but I try to do same and not let anything let me forget who I am (in him).

When I feel lustful, get broke, sick, angry, anxious, sad, hurt it’s hard to remember all He said I am. The pressures of life can easily make you forget all the great things He’s said you’ll become. You end up settling for way less.

What to do? Don’t stay down. If you keep holding on to His word, you will become more like him.

YOUR FOCUS THIS BRONYA

So this Christmas, as we celebrate his birth, ponder all he said, did and became. Marvel on how easy it was for even his mother to sometimes forget how phenomenal he was going to become. Think of what it means for what he said about you and hold on to those things with your everything. It’s just a matter of time before someone writes a song titled ‘[your mums name] did you knoooowww?’

Christmas is a reminder that he was born and lived to become all he said he’d be so you can become all he said you’ll be.
